SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, which is employed to validate whether an email message is sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the faking of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this feature for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send emails from mail boxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies whether it comes from an authorized server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but when it doesn't originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will mask an e-mail address then make it look as if you're e-mailing spam messages. This technique is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting

When you host your domains in a cloud website hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mail addresses for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a couple of clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is accessible in a section of its own where you'll be able to see which domains are currently protected. For those that are not, you can enable the SPF protection solution and set up numerous things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to create a rule that emails can be sent only if your domains have our MX records. The last mentioned choice is the most secure one, but it can be used if we take care of the email addresses for your domain names and you are not using a different e-mail supplier. The newly generated records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in a message by using your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is provided with all the semi-dedicated plans, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you will be able to use the service without difficulty for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a really user-friendly interface, therefore you don't have to be tech-savvy to protected your e-mails. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be active for the domain that you've picked. As a further option, we will also give you the ability to control the outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name in question has our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of by us and not by another supplier. Doing so you will have even superior control and there won't be any chances for anybody to forge your e-mails for malicious objectives.
